Connection in a Digital Age: The Value of Video

If you’re not making eye contact with your prospects and clients as much as possible, you’re leaving money on the table. ‍We don’t want that for you. Imagine you could get face-to-face with every prospective owner, every tenant applicant, and even every referral partner. Would that help you establish trust? Would those relationships deepen? Of course, the answer to both of those questions is YES, ultimately resulting in the growth of your business.

Connecting in a Digital Age: The Value of Video

If you’re not making eye contact with your prospects and clients as much as possible, you’re leaving money on the table.

We don’t want that for you.

Did you know that infants as young as 3 months have developed a preference for familiar faces? Recognizing human faces is one of the first skills we develop - as early as two days old - and is tied to survival.

Beyond that, eye contact is one of the most important components of communication and can help build your credibility, build trust, and establish connections. [source]

Imagine you could get face-to-face with every prospective owner, every tenant applicant, and even every referral partner. Would that help you establish trust? Would those relationships deepen? Of course, the answer to both of those questions is YES, ultimately resulting in the growth of your business.

However, you can’t get face to face time with people all the time and for all communication.

So, what can you do?

Thanks to video messaging technology provided by companies like BombBomb and Loom, it’s easier than ever to get your face in front of people, at scale, and in unexpected ways and places. Here’s how to leverage the incredible potential of video messaging in all areas of your business, utilizing automated emails in your LeadSimple workflows.

Notice that these examples, while they feel personal, are actually meant to be recorded once and used over and over again. That’s why they can be added to emails sent automatically from your workflows.

Level up: actually record personal videos using the recipient’s name on a white board or using an app like Make It Big (iOS) or Large Text (Android). Once you get comfortable making videos, it only takes about 20-30 seconds anyway, but the difference in video plays is significant when the recipient sees their own name in the thumbnail.

Before working at LeadSimple, I spent several years learning about the impact video messaging can have on a business and training BombBomb customers on best practices.

Here is my list of top 5 impactful videos for you to incorporate into your workflows.

1. First Response to Owner Lead

What’s more compelling to you when you reach out to a company, interested in their services?

The company that takes two days to get back to you and then sends an impersonal email? Or a company that responds immediately and personally, giving a face to the name, showing interest in getting to know you and providing immediate answers to common questions they’ve seen?

This isn’t rocket science. Immediately set yourself apart from the crowd by simply introducing yourself to your leads in a personal way and capitalize on the incredible benefits of introducing yourself with your face and eye contact so your lead sees you as a real human being instead of text on a screen.

You can record this video once and then add it to your automatic email or text response for new leads!

2. Welcome / Meet the Team

Help establish trust quickly by sending out a video introducing the team that will now be partnering with them in managing their properties. It’s important to reflect the personality and culture of your team here. If you’re a fun bunch, be fun! If you’re top-shelf professionals, show your no-nonsense selves.

Even if your team works remotely, you can record yourselves in a Zoom call, trim it accordingly, and upload it to BombBomb or Loom.

3. Unresponsive / Can’t Proceed

Chasing down an owner for information or documents is so frustrating and this video will let them know how important it is that they complete _______ so you can proceed. This is a situation where written text could come off as too sharp or cold, so video is incredibly beneficial to make sure your tone is warm and collaborative.

You could record this each time to fit the circumstance, but this example illustrates how you can pre record the video and refer to more details of what’s missing in the written email. It’s much easier to tweak the email based on the circumstances than to record a detailed video message each time.

4. Lead Went Cold

For so many, this is the worst part of building a business, working in sales, or even dating and job hunting; getting “ghosted.” At some point, you have to decide to cut your losses and move on from chasing an unresponsive lead. It’s just not a good use of your time. Sending a final email with a light-hearted and even humorous message and video letting that contact know you’ll no longer be reaching out will often result in a response. Authenticity is key, but this is a great opportunity to engage your sense of humor. You have nothing to lose!

5. We Dropped the Ball (Apology)

Even though this example is #5 on my list, it’s actually my #1 reason to utilize a video message. We are all human and make mistakes. Text on a screen can’t come close to conveying your sincerity in owning a misstep and communicating your desire to make it right like your tone of voice, eye contact, and body language. In fact, the probability of misinterpretation of your tone  through text on a screen is even higher in these situations because tensions and frustrations are usually high. A video message will reduce the risk of misunderstanding in addition to all the built-in benefits of eye contact and facial recognition.

VIDEO BEST PRACTICES

If I’ve convinced you and you’re ready to start filming, this 5 ½ minute video will teach you my favorite and top priority best practices to make sure you don’t make the typical mistakes we would see. Videos that incorporate some of the “worst” practices I address here do more harm than good. I want your videos to be engaging, not cringe-worthy.

Now that you’ve recorded your videos, build them into your automated emails and templates in your sales and operational processes in LeadSimple!
